When I was offered two of the new V-tech Switch & Go Dinos for the boys to try out, I leapt at the chance. Not because they're so into dinosaurs right now, but because of what they switch into…cars. The boys are obsessed with all things vehicular, and I sure wouldn't mind if their interests started to shift more into dinosaurs. A change would be nice. As soon as I opened the box, the boys practically attacked the toys. I had to pry their sticky little fingers off the packages so I could get the Dinos out.

And as soon as they did, well, I wanted to play with them. (I'm still a tad bitter that the boys in fifth grade wouldn't let us girls play with their Transformers.) I used the only opportunity I would get to "show" the boys how to turn them from dinos into cars and then vice versa. But they figured it out pretty quickly, and as I predicted, mostly kept them in car mode for a while.

But then when it was time to rotate (three boys and two new toys = timer on my phone to rotate who played with what and who sat on the sofa with me, obsessively watching the timer) I showed them how to change the driver's picture on the LED screen when it was in car mode, and how to change the dino's eyes in that mode. There were a few buttons to push (and if there's anything the boys love more than cars, it's pushing buttons) that controlled the volume, the display, and two for sound. In dino mode, it gave facts about the dinos. (Now I can answer definitively that Horns the Triceratops was not going to eat them, as he is a plant-eater.)

I thought it was interesting that the toys actually taught the boys something while they played. I'm not surprised, though, considering the other V-tech toys we have (laptops and other learning toys.)

As I mentioned, we only got two of the Switch & Go Dinos, so I'll definitely be purchasing one in the next few days. You can buy today on Amazon, and starting June 18, they'll be available for purchase from VTechKids.com for only $15.99. They really seem like they'd be more expensive. These would make fantastic birthday or holiday gifts. Now when I say the boys loved these toys, I really mean it. Check this out…
